National and international speakers will come together to:
Provide a forum for Centres for Clinical Research Excellence (CCREs)
from around Australia to share their experience and knowledge with
others, as each has developed a unique approach to research
attaining outstanding clinical research success;
Bring together clinical researchers who aspire to forming a CCRE

WOMBAT STAFF NEWS
We sadly farewelled Sam Lain, the NSW/ACT regional
coordinator for WOMBAT in February and wish her all the best for her
career.
We have a new regional coordinator in SA – Chaturica Athukorala, who
will be working with us part-time as well completing 6th year medicine
at the University of Adelaide. Chaturica has already been doing some
work with us on identifying perinatal research gaps.
RESEARCH GAPS
What are some of the important questions to address in
maternal perinatal trials?
We have used Cochrane reviews to identify gaps in maternal perinatal
research and grouped these into ‘umbrella’ topics. To make the issues
easier to understand, we have summarised and coded review findings in
one line with the research implications underneath.
There are many other sources that can provide information about which
maternal perinatal research questions are important to answer and we
will survey other sources in the next phases of the WOMBAT research
gaps project. A gap in the research might not always involve mounting
an RCT – there may be gaps in the research relating to qualitative,
implementation or methodological questions.
The following research gap summary is now up on our website:
Fetal Assessment
